H.O.P.E., by Rivanna Works
Terms of Use
Effective October 29, 2026
These terms apply to H.O.P.E. (Helping Others and Providing Encouragement), a church app for practical help and prayer on iPhone, Android, and the web. H.O.P.E. is built and operated by Rivanna Technologies LLC, doing business as Rivanna Works (“we,” “us”), and is sponsored by Mountain View Chapel in Madison, Virginia (“the church”). By using H.O.P.E., you agree to these terms and to the H.O.P.E. Privacy Policy.
Who may use H.O.P.E.
H.O.P.E. is for adults who have a record in the church’s Planning Center directory. The church decides who is in its directory and who serves as a leader in the app. Your access ends once you are no longer an active member in the church’s Planning Center directory. We or the church may also suspend or end access for anyone who misuses the app.
Signing in
You sign in with a one-time link and code sent to the email address or mobile number on your church record, or with your Planning Center login. Keep your codes to yourself and do not sign in as anyone else. If you think someone else has used your account, contact the church office or us.
Sign-in text messages
If you enter a mobile number on the sign-in screen, you agree to receive a one-time sign-in text from H.O.P.E., sent only when you ask for one. These texts are the only messages the program sends. Message frequency varies with how often you sign in. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help; after you opt out, you can still sign in by email. For support, call (540) 395-3149 or use our contact form. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Your mobile number is not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Using H.O.P.E. well
When you use the app, you agree to:
- Post needs and prayer requests honestly, and only share another person’s details with their permission
- Use the names, addresses, and phone numbers you see only to give the help you signed up for, and not copy or pass them on
- Be kind and respectful; no harassment, threats, or hateful, obscene, or commercial content
- Not try to get into parts of the app or information you are not allowed to see, or interfere with how it runs
Church leaders may edit, hide, or remove posts, and may close needs, to keep the app safe and on purpose.
Your posts and the app’s data
Rivanna Technologies LLC owns the information in H.O.P.E., including the needs, prayer requests, and other posts made in it. We show what you post to the audience you choose and to church leaders, and use it only to run H.O.P.E. Posts stay in the app’s history after your access ends; see the Privacy Policy.
Help between people
H.O.P.E. helps church members find and offer help. Volunteers take part by choice, and the arrangements they make are between the people involved and the church. We provide the software only: we do not screen volunteers, supervise the help given, or promise that a need will be met. Any background-check status shown in the app comes from the church’s records. Use your own judgment when giving or receiving help.
H.O.P.E. is not for emergencies. If someone is in danger or needs urgent medical help, call 911.
Availability and changes
H.O.P.E. is in beta and may change, pause, or have errors. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may end the service. If the church stops using H.O.P.E., your access ends.
Disclaimers and limits on liability
H.O.P.E. is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, Rivanna Technologies LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for anything that happens in the course of help arranged through the app. H.O.P.E. is free to use, and our total liability to you for any claim about it is limited to $100.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Albemarle County, Virginia.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If you keep using H.O.P.E. after a change, you accept the new terms.
